Todd Kelly Jr., S
Though last year didn’t go as planned for Todd Kelly Jr. and he had to sit out all of spring as he recovered from surgery, he would make sense as one of the Vols’ three players at SEC Media Days.
Kelly is the most veteran player on Tennessee’s squad this season. This will be his fifth year with the Vols, and aside from an injury-riddled campaign last year, he’s been a big contributor every year he’s been on campus. He returns with 16 career starts and having appeared in 40 total games in his UT career. If Pruitt is basing his selections purely off experience, Kelly would be the top choice.
But Pruitt is likely looking at other factors beyond just experience, however. And that means Kelly might not be one of his top selections, especially since he wasn’t on the field any in the spring.
